NCPeds Committees Overview

Finance/Development:

This committee is responsible for financial oversight including compliance with IRS reporting requirements, assuring that standard accounting practices are in place, reviewing audits, making budget projections, and approving and monitoring the organization’s budget.  This Committee is also responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of a fundraising strategy, and promoting engagement of all board members into this strategy including making personal gifts.

Personnel

This committee is responsible for routine and exception personnel needs. Examples inlcude the hiring, firing and routine evaluation of the CEO/Executive Director, succession planning, and assuring that Human Resources are in place and are being complied with, i.e. grievance policy, policies on leave and merit increases, etc.).  It is comprised of the President, Vice-President and Past President.

Executive

This committee meets between Board Meeting to address urgent or emergent issues, and to monitor the overall functioning of the board.  It is comprised of officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Past President).

Education

This committee has responsibility for planning the Annual Meeting, especially the CME portion of the meeting, as well as Career Days. It also serves as support and reference for Open Forums and other events with educational components.

Public Policy

This committee helps inform, develop and advance the legislative agenda for NCPeds.  It works in partnership with the Executive Director to devise a public policy agenda, determine when to join coalitions for purposes of advocating and will create and help implement a strategy for engaging the membership in public policy efforts.

Membership

This committee monitors membership recruitment and retention and develops strategies for expanding membership.

Board Relations:

This committee helps recruit and educate new board members. It is also responsible for collecting and vetting nominations for various awards given by NCPeds and for helping to development the leadership pipeline. It also aids in recruiting appropriate pediatricians to serve with external partners. It is chaired by the Past President.

Pediatric Council:

Pediatric Council members are focused on practice management and educating public and private health plans about child health and issues of importance to the practice of pediatrics.
