On April 29th NCPeds will hostour Spring Open Forum in Wilmington. The programwill feature speaker Elisabeth Wright Burak, MPP, MSW,the Senior Program Director and research faculty at the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy's Center for Children and Families. Elisabeth has more than 15 years of experience in public policy to support low-income children and families at the national and state levels.Her timely presentation will discuss the implications of the various federal healthcare insurance proposals beingconsidered and their effect on child health.

The forum will also include a presentation by MarianEarls, MD, MTS, FAAP on Bright Futures - Newer and Brighter than Ever,and a presentation by Alexa Steverson, MA, on The Primary Substances Involved in Childhood Poisonings: Creating Culture of Prevention.

Practice Manager Retreat

NCPeds welcomed over 100 attendees for thePractice Manager Retreatin Cary which included sessions on billing/coding updates, Medicaid updates, PCMH chart audits and a disaster preparedness roundtable. We wouldespecially like to thankthe Practice Manager Planning Committee, including Michael Riddick, Susan Huffman, Natacha Draper, Rose Duckworth, Chris Henson, Lisa Delphias, Michelle Preece and Kathryn Carroll,whomade the event such a success!

Over forty pediatric health care providers joined NCPeds for our largest White Coat Wednesday ever!

Theimportant day of advocacy included meetings with about a quarter of all members of the General Assembly, the Confirmation Hearingof Dr. Mandy Cohen for Secretary of DHHS, and a House HealthHearing on theSTOP Act (an opioid bill).

We offer special thanks to the many pediatric dentists who joined us and to all whoparticipated in this important day of advocacy.
