Time to Sign Up to be a Partner Practice in 2018

One way NCPeds shows our appreciation to practices where all pediatricians are members is through the Partner Practice program. NCPeds works to assure that pediatric members get a range of benefits from education to timely information to strong advocacy for child health. For the past fifteen years, we have also worked to assure that practice managers and other staff get concrete support with billing and coding, office policies and trouble-shooting specific problems with informed peers through our Practice Manager Listserv. This information also helps inform our advocacy work. Practice Managers pay a yearly fee and receive access to the listserv.

We began our Partner Practice program two years ago. When all pediatricians in the practice are members, access to the listserv is free for up to ten staff. Partner Practices also receive recognition at NCPeds' events and are our go-to group when special opportunities arise.

Guidelines for the Partner Practice program:

Practices must apply to be a Partner Practice by completing required information, including pediatricians in the practice along with the membership expiration date.

All pediatricians in the practice must be NCPeds members

Academic centers where all pediatric educators are NCPeds members, such as University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University and East Carolina University, are eligible for this program (a separate application is not needed)

Partner Practice memberships run from January 1st through December 31st and must be renewed annually

Member practices receive access to the Practice Manager Listserv for the Practice Manager and up to ten additional staff members

If your practice would like to participate in the Partner Practice program in 2018, please fill out this form today! All practices who fill out the form by December 15, 2017 will be recognized on our website beginning in January 2018. If you are unsure how to check your NCPeds membership status, please see the article below.

NCPeds also offers a Practice Manager membership for Practice Managers who work in settings where not all pediatricians are NCPeds members. Please note, at least one pediatrician in the practice must be an NCPeds member in order to purchase a Practice Manager membership. Practice Manager memberships are available here.

AAP's National Conference & Exhibition
September 16-19, 2017 Chicago

More than 180 NC pediatricians attended the AAP National Conference & Exhibition in Chicago. Thanks to the many who turned out for the NCE meet up, all of the great presenters and posters and the all-around great NC showing. One highlight was the presentation by Julie Linton, MD, FAAP, Assistant Professor at Wake Forest School of Medicine, on "Children in Immigrant Families - A Policy and Advocacy Update" which resulted in a standing ovation from 4000 pediatricians.

PL-3 Career Day
September 6, 2017 Durham

On September 6th, dozens of PL-3s convened in Durham to learn about contracts, finances, loan options and more. Practices from around the state were also on hand to meet with residents and recruit new doctors. Thank you to all who participated! Special shout out to Drs. Ellie Erickson and Karen Fieselman Stroud for the great content throughout the day.

NC Peds would like to welcome Christine "Chris" Collins to the Board!

A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Chris earned her BSW from Saint Louis University and her MSW from Southern Illinois University.

Chris served as the Director of the NC Office of Rural Health until January 2017 when she assumed her current role as Associate Director of Health Care for The Duke Endowment. She is looking forward to serving on NCPeds' Board because, "Evidence points to the importance of the early years and pediatricians play a key role in increasing a child's opportunity to thrive. NCPeds work is critical to ensuring that our next generation is physically, mentally and spiritually healthy."

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with her two daughters, Megan, a recent North Carolina State University graduate and Coryann, a sophomore at Western Carolina University. The family enjoys travel and a highlight travel adventure was a 2016 backpacking trip across Europe.
