NCPeds Recognized as AAP "Outstanding Chapter"

We are excited to announce that the AAP awarded us with the 2019 Outstanding Chapter Award in the Very Large Chapter category.

Because of your work and engagement and the strong leadership of our Board of Directors, the NC Pediatric Society received the Outstanding  Very Large Chapter award. AAP particularly lifted up the outcomes of Fostering Health NC, the support of academic partners and partner practices, and advocacy work, including the boost in Medicaid payment to parity with 2018 Medicare.

We already knew you were rock-stars, but it is nice when it is recognized by national peers as well!

Navigating COVID-19 Together: NCPeds Solution Share Blog and Calls

NCPeds continues to explore ways to inform and educate our members throughout the changing landscape of COVID-19.

NCPeds members can join us for "Solution Share" Calls on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. to share strategies for addressing COVID-19. Past topics have included back-to-school, testing, maximizing the parking lot for in-person visits, COVID toes, breastfeeding and more. Visit our calendar of events and register for upcoming Zoom calls hereYou must be logged in as a member to register and receive meeting information.

Our "Solution Share" was recently highlighted in the AAP News  Magazine as an example of an innovative way chapters can work together during this time. As a companion to this call, we also have a "Solution Share" blog for members to post news and information between calls.

Meet NCPeds' Leaders

Lisa Delphias, MHA

Practice Manager  Section

Lisa Delphias, MHA, has been active with our Practice Manager Group since 2007 having served on the Practice Manager Planning Committee and as the Chair-Elect since 2018. She is now preparing to take on the role of Chair and join the Board of Directors in August.

She knows firsthand how the Practice Manager serves as a valuable resource for her colleagues.

“The Practice Manager (PM) conferences bring in state representatives and industry speakers to help educate and keep our membership informed.  I continue to be most impressed with the Hot Topics at these meetings and the PM listserv.  These are where it gets ‘Real’; Real questions and Real problems answered by colleagues that are having or have had or will likely have similar questions at their own practices,” she said.

Lisa serves as the Practice Administrator of Burlington Pediatrics where she helps manage the practice’s three offices. She joined NCPeds shortly after joining the staff at the practice.

“NCPeds has been an amazing resource for me over the years,” she said. “Being new to pediatrics, I had lots of questions and, as a practice administrator, a lot of your job is knowing where to find answers!  Whether you are just starting out as a manager or have been a manager for years, in either a private practice or health system, the support of the NCPeds Practice Managers and the state and national advocacy of the NCPeds is invaluable.”

Lisa attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her Master’s in Health Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Health Policy and Administration.

She lives in Elon with her family where you’ll find them traveling as much as possible. She and her husband enjoy visiting North Carolina’s mountains, kayaking and hiking with their teenaged children.
